Ottawa Catholic School Board appoints new Trustee for Kitchissippi/Bay area (Zone 7)

Jeremy Wittet s 1The Ottawa Catholic School Board of Trustees appointed Jeremy Wittet as the Trustee for Zone 7, Kitchissippi/Bay area. Justice of the Peace, Paulina Brecher officiated at the swearing in ceremony. Mr. Wittet has worked at Queen’s Park, Parliamentary offices, and now works for the City of Ottawa. He is a parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Parish. There were seven qualified candidates interviewed by the Board that replaces long-serving Trustee Betty-Ann Kealey who passed away in April.

“We are pleased to have Mr. Wittet join the Board after the loss of Trustee Kealey. We look forward to his contributions as we go forward in our mission of Catholic education,” said Chairperson Elaine McMahon.

Kanata North Elementary School - opening September 2018

The new Kanata North Catholic Elementary School is being built in the Marchwood Lakeside Community of Kanata North. Construction will begin this summer at 785 Goulbourn Forced Road, on the south side of Terry Fox Drive. The new school will welcome students from the existing St. Gabriel School and surrouding area. It will open as a Kindergarten to Grade 6 school and will include the same French immersion pathways available in all OCSB schools, along with before-and-after-school care and a pre-school childcare centre. It will serve as a welcome addition for new families moving into this expanding community.

OCSB Approves Balanced Operating Budget for 2017-2018

News Release 17.06 June 13, 2017 | The Ottawa Catholic School Board has approved a balanced operating budget for the 2017-2018 school year totalling $525.6 million. The budget was developed with input from Trustees, Catholic School Councils, and various other stakeholders. This balanced budget focuses on programs and initiatives that directly benefit students and further enhance student and staff success.The Finance Department is pleased to share this budget data with the broader community with the intention that it will continue to inform the public about Board educational programs and services for the 2017-2018 school year.
