OCSB raises $524,481.57 for The United Way Ottawa!

The Ottawa Catholic School Board has done it again! Generous employees from every school and department in our Board raised a total of $524,481.57 for The United Way Ottawa’s 2016 Campaign, with $391,485.69 being directed to the Catholic Education Foundation of Ottawa (CEFO). At the reveal ceremony on December 8, Campaign Co-Chairs Bill Walsh and Kelly McKibbin were proud to announce that the Board achieved an 80% participation rate – a new record for the OCSB.

Congratulations to everyone involved, and a huge thank you to the countless number of volunteers who worked so hard to realize this goal. And of course, thank you to everyone who gave so generously!

Over the past 10 years, OCSB employees have raised over $5.5 million for The United Way Ottawa. For the sixth year in a row, the OCSB is one of the top workplace campaigns in the City of Ottawa. The campaign is just one of the ways the OCSB works to make our community a better place for everyone.

OCSB reaches 2013 United Way Campaign Goal!

united-way-2013The Ottawa Catholic School Board has done it again! Raising a total of $550,008.88* for the United Way Ottawa’s 2013 Campaign, the Ottawa Catholic School Board has surpassed this year’s ambitious goal of $550,000! With $20,000 of the total funds raised coming in from retired employees, it is evident that the rich history of generosity in our school board continues to this day.

This year’s campaign was co-chaired by Jennifer Oake, Principal, Holy Trinity Catholic High School, and Paul Gautreau, Prinicipal, St. Kateri Tekakwitha School. Pictured at left, representatives from the United Way were presented with the ceremonial cheque this morning at the Ottawa Catholic School Board office.

Congratulations to everyone involved, and a huge thank you to the countless number of volunteers who worked so hard to realize this goal and to everyone who gave so generously!

* Subsequent donations that trickled in after the official end of the campaign brought the total to $569,682.51.

Our 2012 United Way Campaign Raised $533,510! Congratulations!

ocsb-uw-cheque-2012The Ottawa Catholic School Board raised a total of $533,510 for the United Way Ottawa's 2012 campaign. Representatives from the United Way were presented with the ceremonial cheque at the Announcement Ceremony held at the Board office on November 19, 2012. The Board's Catholic Education Foundation of Ottawa (CEFO) received over $364,000  of the total monies raised in the OCSB 2012 Campaign, representing the amount of donated funds which were directed to the Foundation by Board employees. Julian Hanlon, Director of Education, thanked everyone in attendance for their generous donation and support, especially during this challenging year. This year's campaign was co-chaired by Jennifer Oake, Principal, Holy Trinity High School and D’Arcine Thompson, Principal, Convent Glen Catholic School.  D’Arcine thanked all the canvassers and the hard-working campaign committee, with special thanks to Lisa Langsford for data collection and Alana Schryburt, a past co-chair of the Board’s campaign.

2011 Top Campaign in the City!

ocsb-uw-2011-chequeThe Ottawa Catholic School Board raised a total of $562,050 for the United Way Ottawa's 2011 campaign, exceeding the Board’s goal of $550,000! Michael Allen, President and CEO of United Way Ottawa (in 2011) was presented with the ceremonial cheque at the Announcement Ceremony held at the Board office on November 22, 2011. The Board's Catholic Education Foundation of Ottawa (CEFO) received over $370,000 of the total monies raised in the OCSB 2011 Campaign, representing the amount of donated funds which were directed to the Foundation by Board employees.

The Ottawa Catholic School Board was also ranked first in The Ottawa Business Journal's Book of Lists for the Top United Way Campaign in the city of Ottawa, based on total amount of staff contributions. Julian Hanlon, Director of Education, spoke to assembled staff, clearly proud of this outstanding achievement, particularly in these difficult economic times. “Thank you for your personal commitment to this important community cause. You have shown once again how we gather together to make things happen for the betterment of our community."
