Focus Programs

Focus Programs are packages of courses that concentrate on a particular field of interest or training to provide students with both (academic) curriculum-specific and workplace experience, which help build a foundation for a career sector. They enable students to come together to benefit from specialized equipment and teacher expertise.

Career awareness and exploration

These programs are designed to help high school students make well-informed career decisions and to assist with a smooth transition to either post-secondary education or the world of work. At the Grade 9 and 10 level, Focus Awareness Programs engage learners who may benefit  from an experiential approach to learning. At the Grade 11 and 12 level, Focus Explortion Programs provide students the opportunity to concentrate on a targeted area of study.

Changing grades is an exciting adventure for students, especially when entering high school. They're growing up, but you still have a role in your child's education.

Our Parent's Guide to High School helps you prepare your child for the transition to grade 9. Our guide covers the essentials of how high school operates. It outlines what is different in grades 7 & 8, how to keep connected online and in school, and how to be involved in both school events and the bigger picture. Our guide also covers some of the most commonly questioned topics for both parents and students, such as:

  • attendance and leaving school property
  • how to earn credits and french certification
  • diploma requirements and final grades
  • community involvement requirements
  • help with selecting courses
