Dual Credit Program - Getting a head start on your future
Experiencing college and work life while in schoolThe Dual Credit Program allows students to experience a college or apprenticeship learning environment while still in high school. Students participate in apprenticeship training and/or college courses, earning credits while studying at Algonquin College or with a College Instructor at their high school. Many students take their dual credit course in conjunction with other high school programs (SHSM, co-operative education, OYAP) to allow for scheduling flexibility.

I thought the Dual Credit Program was very exciting because I was able to go to college once a week. I also liked that it was a different atmosphere from high school. I learned study skills that are effective and I have used them! I would tell people to take a Dual Credit because it is an experience that comes only once in a lifetime.
The Advanced Placement Program is a college readiness program run by the American College Board. The Advanced Placement Program provides opportunities for motivated and capable students to experience university-level courses and exams while in high school. The courses help students acquire the skills and work habits necessary to be successful in post secondary studies. Colleges and universities in 60 countries give students first year university credits based on their Advanced Placement exam scores. This means successful students can earn university credit while completing high school.
