The Ottawa Catholic School Board has many departments that work together to provide the best learning experience for our students and support our staff. Below you will find a brief description of each department. The OCSB’s Admissions Department handles all issues relating to school registration. We embrace diversity by making a special effort to help international students adjust to life in a new country. Our Family Welcome Center for Newcomers can help you register your child for school if you’re new to Ottawa, or Canada, and English is not your first language. Our caring, experienced, and knowledgeable staff will help you learn more about our community and provide you and your child with a free assessment service to ensure your child has a great education here in Ottawa.
The OCSB’s Communications Department provides reliable information on issues and events occurring throughout our school system to both media contacts and the public. We provide newsworthy information about our schools, our students, and our greater school community. We also provide assistance to our schools, departments and educational partners with the production of advertisements and publications, such as the Director’s Annual Report.
The OCSB’s Continuing & Community Education Department provides learning opportunities for all ages and backgrounds throughout the city of Ottawa. They off adult programs, student programs, summer programs, and more.
The OCSB’s Early Learning Services Department runs a wide variety of child care options in our school facilities. These programs offer a warm, caring and secure environment where children can learn through play in your very own community school.
The OCSB’s Finance Department is responsible for the development and administration of policies to allocate human and financial resources to support learning for all students. The department consists of three operating divisions: Finance and Budget; Accounting; and Payroll.
The OCSB’s Human Resources Department supports the Board’s commitment to ensuring that our staff are equipped with the tools necessary to excel in their field of expertise. We strive to maintain a collaborative, diverse, and equitable workforce.
The OCSB’s Learning Technologies Department works to ensure that staff, students and parents have access to the latest technology tools to help foster student success. The class of 2020 is currently sitting in our primary classrooms. These students will graduate from a learning environment and culture that espouses 21st century skill sets and tools.
The OCSB’s Planning and Facilities Department provides enrollment projections, school planning strategies, new school site acquisitions, school boundary maps, new school design and construction, school renovations and additions, all aspects of facility maintenance, operations and renewal services as well as Community Use of Schools. Our dedicated team strives for excellence in the stewardship of resources and in all facets of the services provided to ensure a clean, safe and healthy environment for students, staff and school communities.
The OCSB’s Supply Chain and Risk Management Department is responsible for the procurement of supplies, services, furniture and equipment required by the Board. This department also ensures efficient and timely operation of mail services, as well as ensuring that the Board schools and departments are well served in the areas of central printing services. Administrative staff in this division works to ensure that the public is provided with exceptional and courteous reception services at all times.
The OCSB’s Records Management Department responds to requests for information from the school community and general public by processing requests for transcripts (when schools are unable to retrieve the records) and completing documentation attesting to the education of former students.
The OCSB serves as the lead board in hosting and administering the internal audit function for the nine school boards in the Ontario East audit region. The Regional Internal Audit Department is responsible for independent assessments of internal controls, risk management, and business operations.
The OCSB’s Religious Education and Family Life Education Department works to foster faith in our communities, build collaborative relationships between schools and the wider community, and support the sacredness of persons to promote the sustainability of our individual and communal resources.
The OCSB’s Special Education & Student Services Department’s approach is based upon the principle of meeting students’ needs within the most enabling environment. We work to ensure that our students grow and develop as unique individuals, enabling learners to reach their fullest potential.
The OCSB’s Student Success Department is responsible for curriculum implementation in all subject areas as well as the implementation of all Ministry of Education initiatives. Our department provides support for school improvement plans, and performs in-depth reviews on a variety of student achievement measures.
