We did it again! The Ottawa Catholic School Board’s (OCSB) United Way campaign has had another successful year with OCSB employees raising $508,598, with $379,035 being directed to the Catholic Education Foundation of Ottawa (CEFO). The generosity of the staff in this school district is both amazing and inspiring.

Inspired by the book “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?” the “Fill a Bucket” theme for this year’s campaign was well received and took on a life of its own. Shiny red buckets were proudly and effectively displayed on raffle tables, special lunch tables….anywhere staff could see them to remind them how good it feels to fill the bucket for someone in need. The generous employees of the OCSB really connected with this message. They understood that while they may not know exactly how their donation will change a life, they know that it will.

At the Announcement Ceremony on Thursday, December 6, 2018, central OCSB staff witnessed the unveiling of the total funds raised with the help of five of the canvassers at the Board office building. Over the past 15 years, OCSB employees have raised over $7 million for The United Way Ottawa. The OCSB remains one of the top workplace campaigns in the city of Ottawa. The campaign is just one of the ways the OCSB works to make our community a better place for everyone to live, grow, and learn.

As the OCSB Campaign Co-Chairs, we are so proud of how our staff has come together to continue this legacy of giving again this year. We congratulate the schools and department canvassers who are pivotal in making this campaign the success that it is year after year. Congratulations to the 14 schools and departments who achieved 100% staff participation in 2018.

The OCSB’s annual campaign begins in October and includes all OCSB employees, including retirees, who play a substantial role in the fundraising effort. Employees choose to direct their donation to a variety of charitable organizations, one of which is the Catholic Education Foundation of Ottawa (CEFO), which works to alleviate poverty in OCSB schools.

Thank you for hearing and answering the call to give, and for filling buckets with your generosity.
